Edna Karr School - Louisiana
In 2000, Edna Karr High School was honored by the US Department of Education as a Blue Ribbon School of Excellence and in May 2005 received the same commendation for a second time. This remarkable school has been operating for over 43 years, and continues to seek out the best tools and practices for helping their students to succeed.
Last year Edna Karr and InnovatED teamed up to bring the flexibility of online learning to the students at Edna Karr.
Tamara Gibson, a guidance counselor at Edna Karr, is very excited about the InnovatED program and the response of her students. "We are implementing a new credit recovery program for our school site and we have had much success with InnovatED. Our kids are products of the computer age and they have been fully involved in their online courses. It's very rewarding to see them move through their coursework and have more success than in the classroom. This is especially helpful for our kids with short attention spans. They can move at their own pace and are very comfortable establishing relationships with their on-line instructors. We are considering adding other courses for students who are interested completing new work to advance in their studies. Also, we have been very pleased with InnovatED's dedicated assistance with the implementation of our program. I would definitely recommend InnovatED to others looking to establish similar programs in other schools."
