Dr. Michael Matwick is the founder and Chief
Executive Officer of InnovatED. Dr. Matwick earned a Master’s degree in educational leadership and a Ph.D. in the same field from Northern Arizona University.
He began his education career as a high school social studies teacher. Eventually, his interest in helping at-risk students afforded him the opportunity to create The Peak Performance Center -- a combination of computer-assisting instruction with classes in dealing with social issues, and cooperative education that put the students in jobs in the community. The center was successful by all measures and when Arizona granted charter schools in 1995, Dr. Matwick decided to expand the program and bring it to all students in Arizona. Dr. Matwick established Pinnacle Education, then known as the Arizona Career Academy, and it was the first charter school in Arizona.
Today, Pinnacle Education’s Online High School and five charter high school locations serve the needs of thousands of students throughout Arizona. Dr. Matwick continues to use the knowledge and experience he gained through Pinnacle Education to help create and implement the e-Learning System offered by InnovatED.
